A very nice concert. The AlApanais were all done very beautifully. It was nice to hear explorations of rAgam like nArAyaNagauLa and candra jyOti. The kriti selection was a little offbeat and they were all rendered well. The svarams were all good and had nice kOrvais. The pallavi was rendered beautifully with trikAlam and anulOmam. The accompanists were good also.

Hi!

This was a very heavy concert, if I might add. :) And how do you make out grha bhedams — especially into a rAgam like rEvagupti? I'm hearing the name for the first time :(

Please also explain what aridi is.

Thanks!

I somehow never digest kOrvais well.

Yes, identifying rAgams comes by practice. (I have had enough practice to know that, at least :) .)

But rEvagupti, I haven't heard before. As if that isn't sad enough, what worries me is that I didn't even notice anything "wrong" with the Simhendra Madhyamam. Canst thou please list a few (5-6, not 25-30) must-hear krtis in Simhendra Madhyamam for me? If can be, maileth any lakshanam facts thou canst immediately recollect.

But ... does the shruti potti not disturb things (for performers and listeners) during a grha bhedam? How should we tackle it (as listeners)?
