I reached while they were singing danyAsi kriti. The neraval and swarams were handled very well. bEgaDa was elaborated very well with all the essentialites of the ragam displayed. The kriti was rendered beautifully with svarams at the pallavi line. The sAvEri kriti was rendered with a lot of bhavam.

The main course of the concert, shanmukhapriyA was elaborated very well by both the vocalists, Smt Varadachari started and elaborated over the madhyasthayI while Smt Purushottaman elaborated the tArasthayI and finished the AlApanai. They both sang a short, yet beautiful tAnam. The pallavi was set to an off beat tALam and the veterans sang the pallavi with utmost perfection bringing the rAgam bhavam in each sangati. The mandatory anulOmam pratilOmam were present, followed by svarams.

The violinst was good in accompanying the vocalists. She did a good job in all parts and especially during the pallavi she was also accurate in adhering to tALam without loosing the sAhitya bhAvam.

The mridangist gave good support and was ably supported by the ghatam artists. They played a nice tani as well.

nArAyaNa hari - yamunakalyANi - Adi - T
ulaga pasu - hamsAnandi - tiruppugazh

The opening bEgaDa AlApanai was a signal for a nice concert. The varNam was rendered with nice svarams. The nATTai AlApanai was also good, followed by nice svarams.

Those who drooped over the starting of pantuvarALi AlApanai, sat up straight as he elaborated the ragam showing essential raga bhavam and kriti was rendered with nice neraval and swarams at 'kumAra guruguha mahitam kavibrindAdi sannutam'. The slOkam in suruTTi and the kriti were well rendered also.

The highlight of the concert was a good elaboration of rasikapriyA. The artist showed essentialities of the rAgam and the kriti was rendered with bhavam. The main kAmbhOji AlApanai was good. Though short, the not-so-often heard kriti taken up was refreshing. The neraval and svarams at 'indu SEkara harikEsa sundarAnga vihAriNi' was good.

Sri Muthukumar gave a good concert. The violinst did a good job though he fell short on a few occasions. The mrudangist played with good anticipation and the tani was nice and enjoyable also.

It was a nice concert. All the items were presented very well. The neraval and svarams at 'kaLamuna sObillu kanakabhUshaNamula' in 'mEru samAna' were good. The rItigauLa AlApanai was really good. The varALi AlApanai, neraval and svarams were good though the kriti was a bit of a let down. The main bhiaravi was rendered very well also. Real good concert by Smt Rajan ably supported by all the accompanists.

This is all i m permitted to type by my aching hand...
