It was a wonderful concert. All the pieces were rendered well. The AlApanais of AndhOLikA and bhAgEsrI by Smt. Khalishabi Mehaboob were mesmerising and very inspiring, while those of pUrvikalyani and kApi by Sri Sheikh Mehaboob Subhani were very good. They shared the other AlApanais and were rendered very well. The kritis were all rendered very well and the svarams were a good mix of sarvalaghu and vyavahAram. Their son provided very commendable support on the nAdasvaram during the kritis. The percussion artists were very good and played very supportively.

It was a great concert. Two musicians of himalayan stature coming together meant it was a jackpot and had nothing short of a great concert. The kritis were all rendered very movingly. The AlApanai of rItigaula by Smt. Varadachari was very elaborate and fitting to the kriti. The AlApanai of shankarAbaraNam by Smt. Purushottaman was majestic. The neraval and svarams were all shared by both the vocalists and rendered in a very classical fashion. The accompanists were good and played well for the occasion.

For such a combo, one expected a longer concert and was thoroughly dissappointed with a quick less-than-two-hours affair. One was left wanting more of the great music from the two stalwarts.

A great evening with soul filling music and fond memories flooded me at this concert. The concert began with a traditional nATTai kriti and the umAbaraNam that followed was nice. The ubiquitous Dravid of carnatic music, pantuvarALi was there too with all its grandeur. (or should I call Dravid as cricket's pantuvarALi? :P )

A meditative nATTaikuranji and a quick racy kEdAragauLa led to the tODi within just about 45 minutes of the concert's beginning. The AlApanai was very elaborate and being the amAvasya preceding navarAthri, one was pretty sure it was kamalAmbhikE, the dhyAna kriti of the navAvarNam that was coming. The AlApanai had all the essential phrases present in the right time and place and made it totally moving. The kriti was rendered very beautifully with elaborate neraval and svarams.

The navarOj kriti, hastivadanAya made a great start for the post-tani section. It was filled with most classical and elegant tukkaDas with the khamAs jAvaLi leading from the front.

The accompanists were perfectly matching to the main artist and played with utmost sensitivity.

It was a concert to remember for a very long time.

It was a wonderful concert. A very classical affair from the beginning and each piece rendered with a lot of punch of weight. Each piece was carefully chosen and rendered appropriately. The perfect beginning invoking Lord Vinayaka in srI rAgam was just the way it should have begun. With a quick dEvagAndhAri, the elaborate mAyAmALavagauLa was having the right measure of quick and leisurely phrases in an apt mix to fit the kriti that came.

srI nAtAdi guruguhO was rendered with elaborate round of neraval at 'mAdUrya gAnAmruta pAnO'. The quick fast paced sAranga with a few really catchy sangatis lead to the next elaborate piece.

kIravANi was given ample time and elaborate treatment. The AlApanai was very classical and soaked with rAga bhAvam. The kriti was rendered with elaborate neraval and svarams at 'vasudalO nIdu vara bhaktalaku'.

The nATTaikuranji was just tooo good. The AlApanai was stunning and rendered with the required punch albeit with the nuances of the rAgam kept intact all the way. The tanam was very nice as well. The pallavi was rendered well with elaborate neraval and svarams. The rAgamAlikA pAsuram had very classical rAgam chosen and rendered with a certain completeness that one feels only with such rAgams.

The accompanists were very good and played very appropriately for the concert. They kept themselves in the right proportion and also portrayed their responses in a equally enjoyable fashion as the main artist.

It was a very enjoyable and classical concert fitting to the rememberance of dilip.
